Baibars Mekatronik Aviation, which operates in the development, production, system integration and life cycle support processes of civil rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), has achieved export success in a short time, received international investment, and is now preparing for production abroad.

Baibars Mekatronik Aviation Chairman of the Board Celal Çağlayan Erguvan, in his statement to the AA correspondent, said that a rotary wing whose foundations were laid in Çukurova in 2015. He explained that they operate as a UAV manufacturer.

Noting that they started to produce agricultural unmanned aerial vehicles, especially agricultural unmanned aerial vehicles, as of the first quarter of 2021, Erguvan said that there are 2 milestones in their story, the first of which is the support given by Türkiye İş Bankası in 2021, and the second is the direct foreign investment they received from Japan in the last quarter of 2023.

Erguvan continued as follows:

"These were the milestones that increased our production capability, our localization rate and enabled us to expand abroad. We produce rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicles, agricultural unmanned aerial vehicles, industrial unmanned aerial vehicles and tactical supply UAVs. We have two subsidiaries under the umbrella of Baibars. Bald Ibis Management offers pesticide services with agricultural drones. At Çukurova Aviation, we provide UAV-1 and UAV-2 licenses. We do not just provide UAVs in rotary wing solutions. We provide a system to the end user. We support them in obtaining licenses and official flight permits, as well as how to use them in the field." Pointing out that the upper limit of capacity is 70 liters, he stated that they will therefore make developments aimed at increasing technological efficiency rather than capacity.

As for industrial UAVs, Erguvan stated that they are working very hard on the fire intervention UAV Cesur and said: We aim to place them. Our aim is to keep our localization rate above 70 percent in almost all products. We want to benefit from Türkiye's geopolitical position in the changing world.

We produce on two different platforms in rotary wings. Our localization rate varies between 50-55 percent. We will reach 70 percent in March 2025, especially in agricultural unmanned vehicles... We are still dependent on foreign sources for avionics systems in industrial UAVs. I hope that we will increase our local production rate in this field as well, reaching over 50 percent by the end of 2025."

Farmer's technological assistant

The new generation agricultural drones to be produced in the facility in the USA increase efficiency and reduce input costs. With its 50 liter liquid tank and 70 liter fertilizer tank, it can spray up to 220 decares per hour. Thanks to its high-flow, centrifugal spraying system, it provides more efficient spraying with less pesticide.

Drones, which can fly safely in all kinds of terrain with the Terrain Tracking System and Obstacle Detection System also developed by Baibars, support their users with high maneuverability. Drones serve with high durability and superior protection against water and dust.
